There are a few ways to determine the style, model and value of your chanel bag that was either purchased preloved or the original tags and receipt were not maintained. Here are some suggestions:

If you have the Chanel authenticity card the serial number holds a wealth of information. There are charts on the internet identifying the year of manufacture based on the first identifying numbers. This is a good place to start.

Even if you do not have the authentication card, inside the bag will be a tag in one corner containing the serial number. Again the internet or a long term SA will likely be able to assist you in identifying when or in what collection your bag was produced.

If your bag is newer and did not come with an authenticity card but has the metal chip inside, any Chanel boutique can scan the chip and provide you with identifying information about the bag.

You can also bring your bag to any Chanel boutique and usually a long term Sales Associate will remember or be able to assist you with identifying the year, collection, and other identifying information associated with your bag. Once you know the year and collection (there are 6 collections per year) this will aid in collecting more information on the origin of your bag.

If you have the original tag or receipt, it will have all of the identifying information including the serial number, the year, and collection the bag was released, the price at the time of release, the color, and more.

Chanel does not usually specifically name its bags other than identifying them as either a flap bag, or top handle bag, or other similar names. Names associated with the bags have been adopted over time to describe a bag such as the Classic Flap, the Coco Handle, the Mini Rectangle and Mini Square flap bag, the wallet on a chain (WOC), etc.
