Dear PurseBop:
What are the customs procedures using the P/S (formerly named Private Suite) service?
Dear P/S Traveler:
There is a service available for a fee at two major International airports in the U.S. that provide exceptional service in a private terminal when flying commercial. This service is called PS (formerly Private Suite) and is presently only available at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Additional locations are scheduled to be added in 2025.
This service provides the highest level of luxury, privacy, and comfort prior to your commercial flight. From the moment the chauffeured automobile picks you up from home to the time your flight leaves, every detail is handled for you.
Upon arrival at either LAX or ATL airport a customs officer is available to process your return documents. However, if you have purchases to declare from abroad, this procedure must be handled in the main terminal at the Customs office. PS Customs officers are not equipped to process duties on purchases and gifts brought from travel abroad. In this instance the PS reservation would be cancelled and the traveller would be transported to the main terminal upon arrival from Europe. Essentially, if you have purchases to declare the P/S service should not be utilized on the return flight to LAX or ATL.
