Question:
Dear PurseBop:
I was really lucky to get a leather appointment at the Hermès Flagship in Paris. I live in the US and most of my Hermès are second-hand. I have one bracelet that was purchased at a US boutique, so ZERO profile when I get to Europe. I’d like to get offered a Constance 24. Do I carry the Birkin that I own (second-hand) or will that irk them because it won’t appear in my profile? What do I do/wear/say to make the best impression? Merci!
Dear First Impression:
First, congratulations on getting a leather appointment at the Hermès flagship store in Paris! This is becoming more and more difficult to secure.
Second, we recommend bringing your Birkin to shop at the FSH store in Paris if you are comfortable traveling with it from home. No one knows where you purchased your Birkin from and they will not likely ask.
What does matter is showing your love for the brand, that you appreciate it, and have knowledge about the leathers, sizes, and colors, and wish to grow your collection.
Based on reports from our community members, it appears that having a purchase history in Paris may help when requesting a Constance or other quota or non-quota bag, but no one knows for sure.
We recommend dressing comfortably, stay true to your style. As long as you feel comfortable and confident in your clothes, it will help you communicate with your SA in an honest and genuine manner. The most important thing is to build a connection with your SA by just being yourself. If you can share your knowledge and love for the brand that may help also. The SA’s want to connect with people who are genuine, love the brand, are nice and pleasant, and are not aggressive or demanding.
Good luck shopping in Paris at FSH and please share your experience with us when you return.
