The mini Kelly II is the smallest Kelly in production at Hermès presently. Many love this bag for its design, ability to transition seamlessly from day to night, and its use crossbody, on the shoulder, or as a handheld bag for dressier events. Despite its small stature, it is extremely versatile.
The mini Kelly II measures 20 cm across the bottom and is in the Sellier style limiting the amount of space inside. To avoid stretching or damaging the inside of a mini Kelly it is best to keep your essentials to the bare minimum. Although a regular sized cellular phone (not oversized or Pro Max) will fit inside, if you take the phone in and out of your bag repeatedly, there is a risk of causing the bag to stretch, scratch, or damage inside. Our recommendation is to keep your cell phone in a coat pocket or in your hand. Better yet, have your partner carry your phone when not in use.
The mini Kelly II will comfortably fit a Hermès Calvi or other small card holder, a lipstick, a car/house key, and airpods or similar. Anything more may make it difficult to close. Although many people use their mini Kelly open, we recommend closing the bag by using the Kelly closure (touret) for safety purposes. Try not to overfill your mini Kelly to prevent damage to the structure of the bag.
The Kelly Pochette has exploded in popularity over the past several years. Recently it seems as though the Pochette is more difficult to secure than a mini Kelly II. It is loved by many for its increased capacity inside and versatility during the day or evening. The small top handle makes carrying the Pochette effortless while always looking chic.
The Kelly Pochette is definitely larger than the mini Kelly II and will easily fit more items. The Pochette measures 22cm x 14cm x 7cm. Any size cellular phone will likely fit comfortably inside with a card holder or thin wallet, along with keys, airpods, and sanitizer, compact, or similar sized items.
Because most Pochettes are constructed using swift leather (and exotic skins) the sangles should easily close even when filled. Again we recommend at least closing the bag with the kelly closure (touret) while using for safety purposes.
