Dear PurseBop:

What’s the difference between a Chanel double flap vs a flap bag?

Dear Chanel Flap:

The newer Chanel Classic Flap bags (since 2014) in sizes small, medium, and jumbo have a double flap inside. Chanel discontinued the single flap for the Classic design in 2014. The outer flap that is secured by the signature CC turn clasp is one flap. The second flap is inside and covers the main compartment in the middle. It is this second flap inside that was added to the Classic Flap bags beginning in 2014. This second interior flap is the reason the Chanel Classic Flap bags are referred to as a double flap bag.

All other non classic flap Chanel bags, whether seasonal bags or other styles, such as the Coco Handle, the Mini Classic Flap, the Business Affinity, to name a few, have only the outer flap that is clasped with a CC turn lock or similar style. These bags are called flap bags.

I hope this clarifies the terminology that may have been confusing. Happy shopping.
