There are so many different size Birkins and Kellys to choose from as I begin my Hermès journey. I am average height and size. What size would you recommend and what size holds it value the best over the long term?

There definitely is an array of sizes to choose from in the Birkin and Kelly family. The size of the bag does not necessarily correlate with the height of a person. All size bags look great on everyone.
It is a personal choice based on your preference, your tastes, how much you generally carry in your bag, what purpose the bag has, whether it is used for day or evening events, and many other factors.
Historically, smaller bags tend to hold their value the best and usually sell for a higher price on the resale market. Despite this fact, the best way to choose the correct size bag for your lifestyle and taste is to try on different sizes.
A few suggestions on where to experience different size bags are as follows:
1. Many Hermès boutiques have sample Birkins and Kellys in different sizes to offer to their clients to try on for size in store. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the difference in the sizes, how much capacity each bag offers, and how it feels and looks on you.
2. Another idea is to visit a reputable reseller with a brick and mortar store. They generally have all sizes available to view, hold, touch, and experience.
3. If you have a friend or colleague who is a bag collector they may be able to show you their bags and allow you to see the different sizes they have in their collection.
