Dear PurseBop.
My local Hermès store occasionally has events where some clients are invited. I feel like I’m a loyal customer and have a solid spending history in my local store. However, I have never been invited to an event. I don’t want to ask my SA why I’m not invited, because I don’t want to seem petty.
Dear Wish I Could Be Invited:
Hermès often holds special shopping events on Sundays prior to certain holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, new collection launches, and year-end holidays. These events are usually by appointment and the SA’s only have a limited number of time slots available that day. It is a difficult task for the SA to determine who will fill those 7 appointment spots.
It is completely acceptable to let your SA know that you would be interested in attending the next special shopping event or other Hermès special event if possible. Your SA may not know you are interested because you visit the boutique regularly.
In addition, your SA likely has many clients and they must decide which of their clients has expressed an interest in shopping on a Sunday for a particular holiday or occasion. One SA can only help 5 -7 clients in one day if each are given a one-hour appointment. This limits how many clients they may invite. They likely have many, many more clients. If you let your SA know that you would like to attend an event they can alert you the next time one is scheduled.
Sometimes Hermès holds special corporate sponsored events in a particular location for new store openings, guest artists, or other events. These are by invitation only that usually come directly from the corporate office. Again, let your SA know you would enjoy being invited to all events sponsored by Hermès at your boutique. However, your SA may or may not have control over who gets invited to the corporate sponsored events.
Good luck and happy shopping!
