Dear Pursebop,
Hi, I have just been on a holiday in Europe recently and I managed to pass by the Hermès store in Belgium. The SA was so helpful and kind to offer me ombre orans which were perfect. At the end she asked me what are the bags I had? Then I said this and that etc. Then later that week I went to Hermès store in Paris and the same question my SA asked? What does it mean by that? I am sure they read my profile well. Why do they have to ask me over and over again. Just curious to know. Thanks
Dear Read My Profile:
In mid-2022 the Paris boutiques started the process of linking the profiles of customers from the U.S. and other countries. However, it is our understanding that the only thing they can see is if you have purchased a quota bag in the existing calendar year. They cannot see your spend history or any items you purchased other than a quota bag. The purpose of linking the profiles is to prevent clients from purchasing more than 2 quota bags in a calendar year. The demand has increased greatly over the past few years and Hermès is trying to offer clients quota bags who have not been offered one in the present calendar year.
In addition, it is our understanding that countries throughout Europe are able to see quota bags purchased in other European countries during the present calendar year but cannot see your entire purchase history.
It is likely the SAs are asking what bags you already own to determine if they have anything to offer you that you do not already possess. It is also a nice conversation starter to discuss what bags you have acquired and any bag you hope to be offered in the future. Hermès SAs in all locations seek to offer clients bags that they believe they will accept and enjoy using. Asking about the bags you already own is a way to get to know your style and taste.
Enjoy the process and good luck on your shopping adventures.
