Question:
Dear, Pursebop, I like to think I have a great relationship with my SA and I have spent a pretty penny with her since I met her. I got my first quota bag within 3 months of meeting her. I recently decided I wanted to add a crocodile mini Kelly or Birkin 25 to my wishlist. She’s very good at texting me back, but every time I have brought up adding a crocodile to my wishlist she stops replying. Am I missing something? Are exotics only offered to people spending even bigger bucks than me? Is this my sign to start seeing a new SA?
Dear Exotic Hopeful:
Building a successful relationship with one Hermès SA is a special gift. Since you mentioned you have a great relationship with your SA we do not recommend switching. It usually benefits you in the long run to stick with the same SA, unless circumstances occur that change that scenario.
With respect to placing exotic bags on your wishlist or any other bags, it is possible that your SA noted your choices and was either too busy or forgot to respond to your text acknowledging your communication. In addition, a community member reported that their SA said they are not permitted to discuss quota bags in text communications.
The best way to handle these situations in our experience is to discuss your wishlist in person the next time you shop with your SA. Ask your SA the best procedure to communicate your wishlist and any changes that occur. Confirm that even though they do not respond directly they have noted your preferences.
Although it is true that exotic bags are generally reserved for customers with a spend profile of a certain amount, this may vary by city/country, boutique, availability of exotics at your location, and how competitive your store may be. In general, exotic bags are reserved for long term clients with a long history and relationship with Hermès. However, there are always exceptions.
Your SA is your best source of information on this topic. A conversation in person is the best way to understand what may be expected at your location. Letting your SA know that you are interested in an exotic quota bag allows her to explore that possibility should one become available that meets your wishlist. However, it likely requires a manager’s approval so often it is not directly up to your SA. Patience is your best friend in the Hermès world. We are sure an exotic bag will find you some time in the future.
Good luck and happy shopping.
