Will I Get An Email Confirmation for the Hermès Special Order I Placed in the U.S.?

I did a Hermès Special Order in Paris. A month later, I got an email saying my order was in the works. Then I did a Special Order in NYC – and I never got any sort of confirmation email. Should I be worried it never processed? I don’t want to ask my SA quite yet!

Dear Worried About Special Order:

When offered a Special Order in one of the three Paris Hermès boutiques, often you will receive an email confirmation. However, we have heard of instances where no email was sent and the order was in fact placed, completed, and offered to the client.

In the U.S. when placing a Special Order with your home store there is no email confirmation sent. Your contact is your Sales Associate. Many wonder if the order was in fact placed. Rest assured that your home store forwards your order to the headquarters in Paris. It is not clear whether the local boutique sends all the Special Orders placed in their location at once, or whether they are sent as each one is ordered.

There is no more communication from Paris about the order unless there is an issue about the colors or leather chosen.

If there are no issues, when the bag arrives your SA will contact you. Remember it can take between 6 months to 18 months on average to complete a regular leather SO. Exotic bags can take 2-3 years to be completed.
