For Fall/Winter 2024, Dior looks back to the late 1960s when fashion began to move from the atelier to ready-to-wear collections. In 1967, under Marc Bohan, Miss Dior was born – as both a collection and a boutique. According to Dior,
“The collection celebrates the shapes and materials that, when the Miss Dior boutique opened in Paris, gave impetus to a new way of dressing that could unite numerous women and make them all special.”
With Miss Dior graphically written on clothing and accessories, it’s hard to miss the theme. Shades of black (or possibly dark blue), whites, creams, and beiges dominate the season, with sprinkles of leopard print and sparkle. Patterns tend to be graphic, prints combining dark and light. And the bags, well, they are in matching hues.
Honoring Miss Dior, there’s a clasp in her name. Literally. A large bold plaque with those words, decorating the front of multiple versions of a flap bag.
It looks like there’s a new Cannage design in store as well; a blown-up leather version that appears on multiple bag styles, like the Lady Dior, 30 Montaigne, and what appear to be newer additions to the bag lineup. Check out the doctor satchel and a boxy rectangle with a metal Christian Dior plaque.
Last year’s Toujours bag, a slouchy tote, reappeared, remade in the new leather Cannage. Dior showed another tote, with thin leather straps topped by metal arches. And, a leather laser-cut Book Tote made the runway cut this season, but only one.
Other bags in this collection include the C’est Dior, Lady D-Joy, and Bobby.
As for what was missing from the Fall/Winter 2024 runway . . . mostly more casual, or less ladylike, designs. Gone were the Saddle Bags, Messengers, Backpacks, or Crossbody bags, as well as thick straps.
Are you a Miss Dior? Will any of these handbags make your wish list? Let us know.
