The topic of today is iconic bags. We have recently written about Gucci’s current all-star status in the fashion world (read: What Were The Top Luxury Brands For Q2?), and now it’s time to delve into two of the brand’s most popular, iconic, and powerful products: the Marmont and the Dionysus.
How would one characterize the Dionysus’ personality? Dionysus: God of wine, festivities and madness. The name Dionysus imbues this bag with an immortal human desire for pleasure as well as a transcendent feeling of release.
And what about her opponent? It’s all in the name. Marmont, of course, evokes the Chateau Marmont. With those iconic towers, and the facade of a French castle, the Marmont is a legend and the muse of many writers and musicians. Just a stone’s throw away from Grauman’s Chinese Theater and a short drive from the heart of Hollywood, the Chateau Marmont is a symbol of the mystique of the nouveau riche and the cultural icons of today and yesterday.
The Dionysus and the Marmont are Gucci’s two “It” Bags of the moment. (Read: The Ultimate “It” Bag Analysis). To compare and contrast them, we’ll take a look at the many celebs who don them regularly, as well as some Instagram pics for some extra eye candy. At the end, we’ll ask for your verdict. I have to say that when both first came out I was team Dionyus for sure due to my love to more structured bags, however all of a sudden jut last month I got the itch to buy something and when my friend sent me her new Marmont (velvet purple) I fell in love and so started looking at them all, I’m in need for a nude bag so I decided that will be it, when I asked a friend to check it out (no Gucci where I live) and she sent me its picture I fell more and more in love and now I’m currently OBSESSED and absolutely can’t wait for my trip to Italy at the end of this month to finally get my hands on it. Please let me know what you think….Marmont nude (the same Dakota Johanson i wearing in red in the above picture so it can easily transform from day to night)
