Sporadic downpours had marked Paris Fashion Week — until Saturday, September 28, arrived, coinciding with the highly anticipated Hermès show. The gray clouds parted, though the sky remained overcast, with a slight chill lingering in the air. Hermès returned to its iconic venue, La Garde Républicaine, to present Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski’s Spring-Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection.
The Spring-Summer 2025 collection embodied the breezy elegance of mid-summer, featuring sheer layers and flowing silhouettes. True to Hermès, leather made its mark with short-sleeved tops, trousers, jackets, and laser-cut designs, first introduced in the Spring-Summer 2024 collection.
As Hermès relays in its program:
“Style as sensory, tactile, a texture lined up with the grain of the day. Wood-soled sandals, a tote in fauve Barénia leather, geometric earrings made from the same tabs that reinforce leather bags. Denims in rose bougainvillea. Supple leathers in muted greens and beiges: camel, nutmeg, rooibos, kraft paper. Abundant surfaces on which to draw a silhouette, a destiny.”
The color palette was grounded in neutral shades-fawn, camel, gray, deep brown, and milky whites-capturing effortless summer dressing. A striking pop of raspberry, reflected in the color of the runway carpet, added a refreshing contrast to the unexpected touches of black. Models wove through aisles divided by what appeared to be rice paper scaffolding, enhancing the collection’s carefree feel.
And then there’s the bags. . .
New Hermès Bags for Spring-Summer 2025
The Hermès Spring-Summer 2025 handbag collection showcases a fusion of heritage and modernity. Once again, heritage leathers take center stage, with Box calfskin and Barénia leathers leading the way. This season features a refined selection of designs—some classic and familiar, while others are refreshingly new or entirely reimagined. From iconic silhouettes to innovative structures, the handbag lineup embodies the essence of Hermès, merging time-honored techniques with modern aesthetics.
Mini Kelly Pampilles
Exciting news for Mini Kelly lovers — introducing the new Mini Kelly Pampilles. Named after the French word for “fringe,” this petite masterpiece made its debut at the Hermès Objects Presentation. The Black iteration was showcased in Box calfskin with delicate Swift fringe, while the rich Red version featured a luxurious combination of glossy Chamkila goatskin and Box calfskin. The Mini Kelly Pampilles is sure to be a hit with collectors.
This is how you bring back the Birkin 35
Birkin à l’envers
While we all adore our miniature marvels, the spotlight also shined on larger bags, particularly the original Jane Birkin in size 35.
A fresh twist on the iconic design, the Birkin à l’envers (meaning ‘upside-down’ Birkin) reimagines the beloved classic with a contemporary edge. Crafted from a blend of durable canvas and leather, this version flips the traditional Birkin inside out, quite literally. On the exterior, you’ll find the signature flap and sangles, along with a functional pocket reminiscent of the Backpocket Pouch. A closer look inside reveals the touret fastening, maintaining the bag’s heritage details.
Offered in size 35, the Birkin à l’envers was showcased at the Hermès Objects Presentation in Barénia leather and canvas in Black and Natural, as well as tone-on-tone combinations of Swift leather and canvas in Ficelle and Black.
Styled both hand-held and casually folded in half under the arm on the runway, the Birkin à l’envers offers a relaxed, modern aesthetic.
Sac Cliquetis
A chic new design for Spring-Summer 2025, the Sac Cliquetis combines clean lines with softly rounded contours. Its flap over-design is accented by curved brackets shaped like Chaîne d’ancre links, which attach to a leather strap featuring a maxi Chaîne d’ancre detail. The Sac Cliquetis reinforces the coveted jewelry collection, incorporating a signature motif within an elegant accessory.
Presented in smooth Box calfskin at the Hermès Objects Presentation, the Cliquetis offers an IYKYK aesthetic. While the samples were in Box calfskin, the bag may also be produced in Epsom.
Derby-Inspired Bag
Another exciting addition to the Spring-Summer 2025 runway, this yet-to-be-named design is reminiscent of the historic Derby travel bag, created by Hermès in 1926. Combined with elements of the much-loved and more well-known Plume, this new style offers a fresh everyday option. The tapered top and elongated horizontal silhouette are elevated with signature gussets — crafted in the shape of horse hooves.
Finished with diamond-shaped reinforcements and sculpted pull tabs, the bag was presented in two sizes. The small version comes with an adjustable shoulder strap, allowing for crossbody wear, while the larger size functions as a sleek tote. Showcased in White, Black, Gold, and soft beige, the large size was also seen in Barénia Faubourg calfskin at the Hermès Objects Presentation.
Stay tuned for official confirmation of its name!
Minaudière Sanglons
The Minaudière Sanglons arrives as a chic and timeless clutch, primed for special occasions. Its otherwise minimal and sleek design reinterprets the Kelly bag’s iconic swivel clasp in an oversized version, offering a signature Hermès detail in a compact, hand-sized accessory. Showcased at the Hermès Objects Presentation, the Minaudière Sanglons is available in Black and Rouge H Box calfskin, each complemented by gold hardware.
Cabas Tressage & Panier Tressage
For its Spring-Summer 2025 accessory lineup, Hermès embraces its equestrian heritage with the Cabas Tressage and Panier Tressage. Inspired by traditional basket-making and straw work from the Émile Hermès collection, these pieces celebrate two materials that resonate deeply with the brand – leather and horsehair.
Meticulous weaving of Barénia calfskin and horsehair results in a distinctive, seamless design. The lineup offers two unique silhouettes: the roomy Cabas Tressage tote, featuring long shoulder straps, and the more compact Panier Tressage bucket bag, complete with a singular top handle.
Cabas Corricolo
Finally, the Cabas Corricolo rounds out the playful horse hair fringe collection. This tote captures the fluidity of a horse’s mane through its meticulously layered horsehair construction, drawing inspiration from the iconic flapper dresses of the 1920s. Generously sized, the Cabas Corricolo rests comfortably on the shoulder. It was showcased in Barénia calfskin and Black leather at the Hermès Objects Presentation and Re-see.
Cargo Birkin
And that’s not all for the Birkin this season. The Birkin lineup continues to impress with the Cargo Birkin, showcased in the 35 cm size at the Objects presentation. Rather than the regular toile and leather fabrication, this edition is reimagined in on-trend indigo Japanese-style denim, complemented by sleek Black Swift leather accents.
Arçon Slim
The Arçon returns to the lineup at the Hermès Objects Presentation, debuting in a new size known as the Slim. This reinvented format offers the perfect balance between the standard Arçon and the Petite version. Retaining the signature design elements, including a zippered pocket and snap hook, the Arçon Slim features a longer adjustable shoulder strap, making it ideal for crossbody wear.
Sac Lassoie
Simplicity meets sophistication in the new Sac Lassoie, a chic reinterpretation of the classic bucket bag design that is unmistakably Hermès. Featuring a bandana-printed silk body adorned with the Éperon d’or pattern by Henri d’Origny, this elegant bag is enhanced with Swift calfskin accents. The simple leather drawstring fastening not only secures the bag but also adds structure, while an adjustable shoulder strap offers versatile styling options.
With a construction reminiscent of the Balusoie, we await with anticipation to see if the Sac Lassoie will be available in a variety of printed silks.
While the new handbags undoubtedly caught our attention, a collection of beloved classics also made a return. . .
Constance Elan
The East-West trend continues uninterrupted for Spring-Summer 2025 at Hermès, with the elegant Constance Elan making a striking appearance at the Hermès Objects Presentation. This iteration features a rich Rouge H Box calfskin paired with luxurious gold hardware. Its slightly elongated shoulder strap enhances versatility, making it ideal for crossbody wear across a variety of body types.
Picotin
The beloved Picotin once again is a runway star for Spring-Summer 2025, after a four-year absence. As one of Hermès’ most coveted non-quota bags, it appeared in sizes ranging from the petite 18 to the more generous 26, crafted in various leathers, including what seemed to be heritage options.
At the Hermès Re-see, the Picotin 26 was showcased in beautiful Barénia leather, enhancing the classic bag’s heritage appeal.
Plume
A timeless style that has endured for decades, the Plume bag has been featured in recent Hermes runway shows. This season, it leads the collection, showcased in a variety of sizes. Spotted in a spectrum of neutral shades and sizes at the Hermès Presentations – from classic Gold to soft beige – the Plume has lasting appeal.
Shoulder Birkin 29
An archival favorite from Jean-Paul Gaultier’s tenure at Hermes, the Shoulder Birkin remains a key piece in the brand’s repertoire. Reintroduced in the Spring-Summer 2024 collection and highlighted again for Fall 2024, the elongated Birkin appeared on this runway in the 29 size.
Sac Maximors
First introduced in the Spring-Summer 2022 collection, the cylindrical Sac Maximors returned to the runway, hand-held in shades reminiscent of Trench and Gold, both paired with Palladium hardware.
Sabot Osier
The petite yet impeccably crafted Sabot Osier Mini bag returns for another Spring-Summer season. Defined by its signature curved wicker silhouette, it features a sleek leather top handle and was elegantly styled on the runway with a brown silk scarf.
