Have you noticed that Hermès recently reintroduced Electrum hardware on several of their bags? With no formal announcement, select Kelly 25’s, 24/24 bags, and the Cinhetic bag are being released with Electrum hardware.
Here’s a breakdown of what we know about Hermès’ use of Electrum hardware:
- Hermès Electrum hardware uses both gold and palladium tones in separate areas of the bag’s hardware.
- Touret (kelly turn lock) is in gold;
- Rivets (nail heads) are in gold;
- Plaque (face plate), sangles, pontet, four clou (feet), clochette (keys and lock), v hook, and clasps on the shoulder straps are all in palladium.
- Electrum hardware is incredibly versatile and works well with many Hermès leather colors, from neutrals to brighter shades.
- Its balanced tone adds an elegant touch to both casual and formal styles without overpowering the overall look of the bag.
- Hermès Electrum hardware seems rare so far and typically reserved for select leather colors. This unique offering will be a sought-after option for collectors who appreciate details.
- The Hermès hardware code is CT.
Hermès calls this use of two hardware colors Electrum, describing it as a subtle effect that marries two finishes: palladium and gold. The result is two different colored hardware appearing on one bag. Though it feels new, the concept was actually seen in a 1989 Hermès Rouge Vif lizard clutch.
So far, Kelly 25 bags in Vert Moyen, Gris Platine, Noir, and Rouge H have been spotted with Electrum hardware. The 24/24 bag has also been seen on the Hermès website with this hardware option.
One member of our community was lucky enough to be offered a Kelly 25 in Epsom leather in the color Vert Moyen, featuring Electrum hardware. The price of a Kelly 25 Electrum in Epsom is $12,100 – slightly above the usual $11,300 price for a Kelly 25 in Epsom with gold or palladium hardware.

Additionally, the Hermès Cinhetic bag with Electrum hardware has appeared on the U.S. Hermès website at a price of $9,100. The combination of palladium and gold on the “H” closure makes the Cinhetic’s bag closure design pop. Electrum hardware adds a newfound flair to this often understated style, which can sometimes be forgotten in favor of the Constance, Roulis or Verrou bag.
What do you think about the Hermès Electrum hardware? Will you be placing it on your wishlist? Let us know what you think.
