I’m delighted to bring you this report. Actually delighted isn’t quite the right word — let me rephrase… I am ecstatic to introduce you to the Hermès Mini Jypsiere.
The Jypsiere as a style, isn’t exactly new. It’s been around since 2008, and once upon a time was quite the catch. It had a cult following but in recent years it has faded from the forefront of styles. So, what’s causing the stir now you ask?
Probably not surprisingly, It’s the new mini size that has us all up in arms. And texting SAs. It’s so darn cute and functional with a casual utilitarian vibe.
On a recent trip to New York City I had the good fortune to bring one home. Now, the Jypsiere is not new to me as I bought one back in my early Hermès days, a vibrant Blue Paon from FSH. I can’t say I used it or enjoyed it much at the time, but I think this new mini size is going to be a whole different story.
The Jypsiere is an incredibly comfortable bag, with a wide padded strap that can be adjusted so that it can be worn either cross body or to one side.
I suspect most will wear the mini Jypsiere cross body primarily because it allows you to stay hands free. I see it as a great travel/tourist bag as it lays close to the body, perfect for security reasons. And, of course, it’s ideal for moms (and dads) on the go.
Testimonial from a community member:
Wearing a Jypsiere cross body allows me to keep my hands free with no chance that the bag might inadvertently slip off of my shoulder. This allows the bag to sit securely on my hip, with little chance that someone could easily take it from me in a purse snatching. Also, the wide strap would be quite difficult to cut, another type of common street crime prevalent in many larger cities. The large secure flap also makes pick pocketing a far more complicated endeavor, while still being quite easy for me to open and retrieve personal items safely.
Most of all, I just love the sheer comfort and flexibility of the Jypsiere. It is easy to pack, and it comes in a myriad of beautiful colors. With my preference for bright colors, I find that the Jypsiere can really make an outfit pop!
And for anyone who likes to accessorize the accessories, the Jypsiere is uniquely suited to bag charms. A simple chain or twilly, or even a rodeo charm is a fun way to customize your look without interfering with the basic function of this wonderful bag.
So if you are traveling this summer, I highly recommend carrying a mini Jypsiere for daily use. It is the perfect blend of fun and functionality.
Capacity and Size
At last there’s a mini that can carry any size iPhone. My iPhone 14 Pro max comfortably fits with plenty of room to spare. Add a calvi, lipstick and car key. You’ll still find room for a few more essentials. It’s not much larger than a mini Kelly 20 but the bag’s proportions allow it to pack a punch.
The mini Jypsiere boasts large and impressive hardware for it’s relatively small stature. Interestingly, despite the bag’s petite stature, the size of the hardware resembles that of the Kelly 32 (shown here in Anemone). Although not an exact match, it was very close.
The mini Jypsiere retails for $7,400 USD in swift leather. It is currently being offered in swift and evercolor leathers.
