Louis Vuitton Introduces Hot New Bags for Spring-Summer 2025

Closing out Paris Fashion Week in grand style, Louis Vuitton presented its Spring-Summer 2025 women’s collection, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, on Tuesday, October 1st. Set against the iconic Cour Carrée du Louvre, the show offered a quintessentially Parisian atmosphere, framing the French Maison’s latest creations. In the lead-up to the show, Louis Vuitton emphasized the significance of the venue, stating:

“Reflecting the majestic architecture that envelops Paris’ Cour Carrée du Louvre, a juxtaposing mirrored structure sets the tone for Nicolas Ghesquière’s upcoming presentation.”

The Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2025 show made a bold statement right from the start with its striking runway – or more accurately, trunkway – composed of over 1000 of the Maison’s iconic trunks in various shapes, sizes, and colorways, arranged to resemble a pallet of cargo containers. This illuminated path set against a dark, atmospheric backdrop created a dramatic contrast, drawing all eyes to the models.

Surprisingly, the color palette followed suit, embracing a moodier, darker tone than typically seen in Spring-Summer collections. Neutrals dominated, with black, navy, and earthy tones creating a striking contrast to more seasonally expected shades. However, the collection was elevated by vibrant printed silks, featuring diagonal stripes and painterly designs.

The collection itself embraced effortless summertime layering, with classic two-piece sets taking center stage. A variety of hemlines, including Ghesquière’s signature asymmetrical designs, and clean-cut tailoring contrasted with the drapey looks that closed the show. Fringing, also prominent within Chanel’s SS25 collection, added texture throughout, while subtle summertime metallics introduced a touch of sparkle.

Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2025 Handbags

Turning our attention to the handbags, Louis Vuitton blends classic and contemporary designs this season. Many bags were styled alone, while others showcased the trendy practice of double bagging, featuring a small purse paired with a larger tote for a chic, layered look.

Ironically, despite the runway itself being made of the Maison’s iconic trunks, only a handful of small trunk-style bags were featured. Instead, the collection leaned heavily into exotics, particularly crocodile, and snakeskin — whether embossed or genuine is yet to be confirmed. With Pharrell Williams’ fondness for exotic skins in the Louis Vuitton menswear line, it wouldn’t be surprising if Ghesquière is following suit.

A notable focus throughout the collection was on hardware, which played a significant role in defining each piece – from bold metallic accents to intricate buckle detailing.

Of course, the classics weren’t forgotten. The timeless Monogram and Damier patterns reemerged amidst the growing leather bag lineup, while fresh styles, from new totes to sleek clutches, made their debut.

Let’s take a closer look at the new Louis Vuitton bags for Spring-Summer 2025. . .

Could This Be the New Speedy?

Opening the show was a new bag that echoes the beloved Speedy silhouette. This fresh east-west design features slightly elongated top handles, an adjustable and detachable shoulder strap, and distinctive buckle detailing. While the triangle flap at the front enhances its utilitarian aesthetic, it appears to be decorative rather than functional. Crafted from grained leather with smooth leather accents, the bag boasts a subtle slouch that contrasts with its prominent biker-style hardware. On the runway, this duffle style was seen in two sizes — small and large — options included black, gray, blue, and brown, some with silver-tone hardware and others paired with gold.

Exotic editions were showcased too – including a brown-tone snakeskin design, paired with contrasting black leather details.

Speedy Bandoulière

Speaking of the Speedy, this season, the iconic travel companion is elevated with bold chunky chain detailing, complemented by crocodile handles and trim that replace the bag’s classic Vachetta leather.

Another version elevates the exotic theme to new heights. Presented in glossy crocodile skin in a deep forest green shade and an orange-tone red, this Speedy Bandoulière is a true statement. Finished with an interwoven leather chain strap, this version of the Speedy exudes a more refined and structured look, offering a polished contrast to Pharrell’s iconic slouchy Speedy P9.

GO-14

Ghesquière’s GO-14 reemerged with an edgy makeover, presented in sleek black leather with striking silver chain detailing between the quilted pattern. This iteration features eyelets with metal fringe detailing scattered across the body of the bag, adding a dramatic flair to the classic design.

The fringing didn’t stop there. Another GO-14 shimmied down the runway with delicate silver-tone fringe cascading across its black padded quilted lambskin design.

LV’s Answer to the Birkin

Louis Vuitton is championing understated elegance with a fresh, minimalist tote design for the season, but it’s far from quiet when it comes to the hardware. Crafted from smooth leather, this roomy tote boasts two top handles, a chunky chain strap, a zip-top fastening, and four protective feet at the base.

What sets this tote apart is its edgy hardware, including an LV padlock on the zipper, a clochette secured with a chain, and an additional chain for attaching keys or bag charms. The runway showcased this tote in large and small sizes in shades including burgundy, gray-beige with croc detailing, all-over green croc, black, and sand. Could this be Louis Vuitton’s answer to the Birkin?

Side Trunk

A firm favorite of Ghesquière, the Side Trunk MM made a striking appearance on the runway with an elevated look. This season, it is reimagined with a new top handle; traditionally made from leather,  now it is replaced by a jewel-like snake chain.

Meanwhile, equally bold, the PM size emerged in a spectrum of bright summer shades of leather, each embossed with the LV Monogram, including fuchsia pink, green, and purple with silver-tone hardware. Adding a playful twist, the Side Trunk PM was styled as an add-on bag, cleverly paired with the new larger tote on the runway.

However, the standout of the Side Trunk lineup was the crystal fringe adorned black leather edition.

Neverfull

The iconic Neverfull gets a luxe makeover this season, reimagined in vibrant red crocodile leather with gold-tone hardware. This exotic iteration brings a bold, high-gloss finish to the timeless tote, offering a striking alternative to its classic Monogram counterpart. Given the recent buzz surrounding Louis Vuitton’s new reversible Neverfull – could this signal a commitment to the style?

Petite Malle

It wasn’t just the GO-14 and Side Trunk that received a dose of sparkle – the Petite Malle dazzled on the runway, appearing entirely adorned with crystals. Styled as a mini top handle, it features a chunky matching silver-tone chain that adds to the glamour.

In contrast, Louis Vuitton offered a less glitzy version, reminiscent of the runway design. This Petite Malle mimics the look of three LV trunks stacked upon one another. Each of the three distinctive mini trunks that make up this unique design is crafted in different patterns and colorways — one in Damier, another with stripes, and the top trunk in a solid color — each featuring its own leather trims and hardware colors.

For fans of Louis Vuitton’s heritage Monogram, the Petite Malle was stripped down to a clean canvas design, devoid of the design’s original metalwork details. Instead, the bag’s Monogram is adorned with an array of jewel-like embellishments of various sizes and colorways.

Two more classic variations join the Petite Malle lineup this season. One features a striking white painterly effect, complemented by a matching interwoven chunky chain. The other showcases a sleek padded black leather design, complete with a shorter padded top handle.

Noctambule

Originally launched in the 2000s and later discontinued, the Noctambule gets another glance in 2025. This reimagined design features a striking Damier pattern with patent leather detailing, replacing the original Epi construction. While the original acrylic top handles have been swapped for sleek leather ones, the LV emblem and a patent leather luggage tag complete the updated look.

A smaller version of the Noctambule was also showcased in classic Damier canvas, featuring the LV heat stamp along with a matching luggage tag and padlock.

Mini East-West Bag

Additionally, Louis Vuitton also presented a new variation on the Noctambule’s classic north-south silhouette. Downsized and elongated to create an east-west silhouette, this style features the same distinctive handles as the original Noctambule design, however the shape is a structured yet rounded rectangle, reminiscent of the Lady Dior. Available in both luxurious black crocodile leather and classic Damier Ebene canvas, this petite top-handle design offers a modern twist on the classic Noctambule.

Fan Clutch

Louis Vuitton is no stranger to novelty handbags, with the late Virgil Abloh having popularized the trend. This season, Nicolas Ghesquière continues that legacy with the introduction of the Fan Clutch. Resembling a foldable hand fan, this playful design is reimagined in Monogram canvas as well as Damier Azur with Vachetta leather trim. The clutch features a zip-top closure, along with a removable wristlet strap.

Diane Satchel

The Diane Satchel gets yet another makeover, following its downsized version from the Pre-Fall 2024 collection. This time, its full size has been restored, but with a modern twist: the traditional Vachetta leather top handle has been swapped for a jewelry-like chain shoulder strap. And it doesn’t stop there – the classic Vachetta trim has been replaced with luxurious croc for an extra dose of luxury.

Boulogne Bag

Much like the Diana Satchel, the Boulogne bag received an exotic upgrade this season, with luxurious cream-colored crocodile skin replacing the usual Vachetta leather accents. The delicate chain shoulder strap has been replaced by a bold, intricately designed jewelry-like chain top handle.

Bum Bag

A former favorite from Louis Vuitton, a new bum bag makes a stylish addition to the Spring-Summer 2025 collection. This iteration features a fresh silhouette, highlighting a more curved, oval shape. Presented in Damier Ebene and Damier Azur canvas, the bum bag includes a zippered front pocket and an adjustable strap. Showcased on the runway as a shoulder bag, this versatile design offers multiple styling options.

Soft Marceau Bag

The Louis Vuitton Marceau bag, first introduced in the Spring 2022 collection, receives a slouchy makeover for Spring-Summer 2025. Offering a softer, more relaxed aesthetic, this larger Monogram canvas bag retains the essence of the original while incorporating updated elements throughout. Notably, the leather detailing on the top flap has been removed, creating a sleek envelope-style opening. Trunk-inspired accents, reminiscent of the Soft Trunk, are also featured, including the signature S-lock and reinforced metal corners. The look is completed with an adjustable, chunky strap.

Trunk

Last but certainly not least, the largest trunk made its grand appearance, perfectly complementing the striking trunk-lined runway. This briefcase-sized statement piece featured a print of a painting by French artist Laurent Grasso, transforming it into a wearable work of art. Grasso’s collaboration extended beyond accessories, with several pieces of clothing in the collection featuring reproductions of his paintings.
