Art and the Capucine
The relatively new Capucines bag has made many a fan with its effortless elegance. It is named after the Rue des Capucines in Paris, where Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854. In the six short years since its inception, the Capucine already has become an LV classic. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Louis Vuitton has collaborated with six artists to produce the ArtyCapucines collection. The collection features six limited edition bags that each showcase a different artist’s interpretation of the classic Capucines style.

The bags are set to debut on June 28 at ‘Louis Vuitton X’ in Beverly Hills, an exhibition exploring the brand’s 160 year history. Louis Vuitton’s launch of these limited edition Capucines bags at the exhibition confirms the style’s status as a new classic. It seems the brand very much wants the Capucines to go down in LV history.
The brand describes the Capucines bag as an ideal ‘blank canvas’ for six contemporary artists. The collaboration combines Louis Vuitton’s passion for constant innovation with their artisanal heritage.

There will be a Colette-curated pop-up shop on-site selling Louis Vuitton merchandise, including bags from the limited edition collection. Each artist’s interpretation will retail for $8,600. With very limited availability, only 300 pieces produced in each design, you best snap up one of these beauties while you can.
