Are you ready for a high fashion Apple Watch?!

Today during Apple’s product launch event, Apple and Hermes announced they’re teaming up on the latest installment of the tech giant’s timepiece. The “Apple Watch® Hermès” is crafted in stainless steel and features iconic leather band styles from Hermes including the Single Tour, Double Tour, and Cuff. That’s right – you can now pair your favorite Hermes watch styles with cutting edge mobile technology!

The Apple and Hermes collaboration may come as a surprise. Hermes is known for their classic, timeless luxury products, while Apple continues to push the edge with their cutting edge technology, but the pairing may not be as odd as you think. Both are at the pinnacle of their respective industries. As quoted by Apple chief design officer, Johnathan Ive:

“Apple and Hermès make very different products, but they reflect the deep appreciation of quality design. Both companies are motivated by a sincere pursuit of excellence and the desire to create something that is not compromised. Apple Watch Hermès is a true testament to that belief.”

There is no doubt the move could prove risky for both companies. Neither has a significant record engaging in collaboration and both are known for their insular design process. But there’s the potential for a win-win to emerge. For Apple, they gain the credibility with top-dollar spenders Hermes offers as it tries to compete with more renowned luxury watch companies and distance itself from tech competitors like Samsung. And Hermes gains a whole new audience for their exquisite goods. While most PurseBop readers are all too familiar with the luxury brand, their reach only extends into a very tiny set of households with an extremely elevated brand consciousness. In collaborating with Apple, Hermes gains the recognition of many individuals who have the money to spend, but have never considered entering an Hermes boutique.

The Apple Watch Hermes collection will be available in a variety of different sizes, leathers, and colors including black, brown, red, gray, and blue. All watches feature a stainless steel case with the Hermes signature logo. Each watch face is customizable with three exclusive dial designs inspired by the classic Clipper, Cape Cod, and Espace watches from Hermes.

Price & Availability

The Apple Watch Hermes will be available at select Apple Stores, Hermes stores, and a limited number of department stores starting October 5 in certain countries. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out exactly where you can snag one.

Prices range from $1,100 USD for the 38 mm Single Tour to $1,500 for the 42 mm Cuff.
