Hermès debuted its Men’s Summer 2023 collection yesterday on a cobblestone runway at the Manufacture des Gobelins tapestry factory in Paris. For the collection designed by Veronique Nichanian, the show itself was directed by Cyril Teste.
The overall feel was light and fresh, evoking feelings of a bright and vibrant summer. Pops of color mixed among whites and dark neutrals. The vibe made us want to book our next vacation in the South of France immediately.
On the runway, the bags were big and bold. Specifically, this collection featured a delightful mix of printed and solid extra large canvas totes, some shaped like a Garden Party others not, one pale yellow extra large Bolide, two printed HAC Birkin 50’s, and a weekender shoulder bag with a gold leather strap. It screamed summer at its best: light, breezy, carefree, and joyous.
One favorite was the extra large Bolide in Juane Poussin with a heart and arrow outlined in large palladium grommets on one side. And, not to be outdone, there were two exciting “Haut a courroies” Birkin 50 with distorted checks in two different color choices.

Mixed into the show were several different totes. One was a colorful jumble of vibrant yellow, orange, blue and white with Hermes’ signature gold leather trim, handle, and white stitching. Another canvas tote had darker toned colors and black leather trim and handle. The brightest tote was a yellow boxy style with palm trees reminiscent of vacationing on the Côte d’Azur. And the navy weekender bag with gold leather shoulder strap is certain to be a fan favorite.
