Only five years old, Louis Vuitton’s LV Twist bag has become something of an instant classic. It debuted in Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2015 collection, showcasing its now iconic LV twist-lock opening at the center of the bag.

Inspired by the Louis Vuitton Trapeze clutch launched in 1988 that sports the same striking twist-lock feature, the LV Twist combines modern elegance with functionality. The design’s classic lines make it ideally suited to endless color, material and size variations. This season new models of the bag have been introduced, adding to the already bounteous offering of styles for the Twist.

So whether you’re impatient to invest in a classic style of this new LV staple or eager to venture into new provocative variations of the bag, the Twist may be just what you’re looking for!
The Twist is offered in sizes PM and MM and Mini. Louis Vuitton’s iconic Epi leather is a popular material option for the bag. However, options abound from lizard leather to Crocodilien Brilliant (alligator leather) – great for those who are a fan of exotics!
Befitting both neutrals and vibrant color palettes, the original Twist MM is available in black and various red-ish hues including Poppy, Cherry Berry and Rose Ballerina. The bag’s smaller PM size is currently available just in black while the mini version of the style comes in an assortment of electric colors including pink and Acid Green in addition to white.

This bag oozes functionality thanks to its “wave” base, an inverted bottom to the bag that divides the bag into two sections. This makes the purse remarkably spacious and its sliding chain strap can be styled cross-body or doubled up to be worn over the shoulder for versatility.

Akin to classics such as the Fendi Baguette and Chanel Classic Flap, despite sporting an array of color and material combinations, one feature remains constant on all versions. For the LV Twist, it’s the twist-lock opening at the centre of the bag.
The majority of the newly released designs are priced between the $3K – $5K mark however some exotic materials can cost up to tens of thousands of dollars.

The Twist for Summer 2020
New for Summer 2020, the Twist MM features a colored plexiglass top handle and vibrant nametag and charm paired with a backdrop color of black, white or a deep fuchsia shade named ‘Grenade’. This design comes with a removable leather strap which, combined with the top handle, serves some serious business woman boss vibes.

Louis Vuitton’s Crafty capsule collection for Summer 2020 provides an offering of not one but two Twist bags! The collection centres on displaying a fresh new take on the house’s Monogram Giant canvas and embracing animated and vibrant shades. The Twist designs effortlessly embody this by contrasting neutral bag tones with pops of color from bag charms.
The MM size sports a braided-leather top handle complete with a detachable leather strap and colorful bag charms of giant monogram motifs.

The Crafty capsule collection also features a Twist Mini in a deep caramel hue that also sports a braided-leather top handle, detachable leather strap and bag charm.

PurseBop's Favorite Twist Designs
A favorite new design of ours which was introduced back in Summer 2019 is the Twist Guingette. The bag is made up of a combination of Epi leather and basketry-style woven colored cowhide strips to create a wicker material look which, according to the house, is inspired by wicker chairs of Parisian cafés – oh to be in Paris in summertime!
This style is available in indigo in the MM size and red Coquelicot in PM.

Beyond the Classic Twist Design...
Louis Vuitton is certainly no stranger to the multi bagging trend (read – Another Twist on Louis Vuitton’s Multi-Bagging). Owing to the Twist bag’s versatility, LV released the Twist and Twisty (adorable name we know) consisting of a mini version of the popular bag attached to a larger size, available in a variety of color combinations and both the PM and MM sizes.

Louis Vuitton has used the Twist design to branch out into the WOC (Wallet on Chain) game. The brand offers the Twist Chain wallet and a belt bag option, the Twist Belt Chain Wallet.
WOCs have proved hugely popular styles amongst top tier luxury brands such as Chanel and Hermès and therefore Vuitton’s decision to use the Twist design to venture into this new look is undoubtedly a nod to the house’s assurance in the style and consolidates its position as a new jewel in the LV crown.
