Chanel went big for small handbags this year. The brand’s ever-popular mini bags show no sign of waning in desirability and the introduction of newer models just amplifies demand.

But wait! Don’t fret! There’s another exciting mini launch creating quite a stir.
Behold the new Chanel mini with an adjustable strap! Now, don’t get confused with the similar adjustable strap flap bag from Chanel released earlier as part of the Pearl Crush line. That model featured a gold, and sometimes diamond encrusted, ball that worked as the strap adjustment.
This new version for 21K is sans “ball” but with all the other coveted advantages of the mini bag. In fact, it is safe to say that Chanel has truly mastered the art of #minibagmadness. Will they continue to be staples in collections to come? We sure hope so. But for now, let’s break down all the reasons why this latest Chanel mini flap bag is an obsession…
1. The Adjustable Strap
Isn’t this everyone’s dream come true? A bag that fits every body type. Whether you’re tall or short, curvy or petite, you can find that perfect length for crossbody or shoulder carry.
A new design feature, the interwoven chain is suspended from a ring on one side of the bag while the other side features a fancy Chanel fastener. This time, the strap is attached to the outside panels of the bag rather than inside the flap as is traditionally found in similar models. The toggle allows you to lengthen or shorten as you wish, transitioning from a fun daytime crossbody to an elegant evening bag.

2. Caviar Leather
Chanel’s favorite leather returns in this adorable mini model. More durable and less prone to scratches, caviar leather tends to be more hardwearing than Chanel’s delicate lambskin leather.
For a bag that’s designed to be worn crossbody, Caviar leather is a good choice. You can rock your mini assured that the leather won’t mar easily.
Now, it’s not entirely fair to say that Caviar leather is less prone to color transfer compared to its softer leather sibling, but the perception is that it’s more forgiving than lambskin. Some also report that the leather on this bag seems softer with the larger square quilting.

3. Size
With more capacity than a rectangular mini, and definitely more than the square version, Chanel’s newest mini bag is roomy enough for a few extra goodies for all day, on-the-go use.
In fact, this latest mini flap bag comes in at measurements of 5.1 × 7.5 × 2.4 inches. The rectangular mini, on the other hand, is sized at 4.7 × 7.9 × 2.4 inches, while the square version measures in at 5.3 × 6.7 × 3.1 inches.
Sometimes bigger is better, even for a mini.

4. Colors
Of course, one of the best parts of any new handbag launch the color variety! This latest edition to Chanel’s mini bag range comes in several hues including icy blue, classic black, iridescent pink, and soft mint green.

These are just some of the reasons why Chanel’s new mini flap bag is already a favorite. The bag’s introduction created such an immediate stir that it is already completely sold out in many locations around the globe, though it is still listed on Chanel’s website with a price tag of $4,400 USD. On the second-hand market, this model commands well over its current retail price.
